That's essentially what I did...you actually can make a reservoir nearly silent if you fill it full enough.
My noise output went down, but my biggest obstacle is the 17 hard drives in the case. Waterblocks on gfx card, cpu and motherboard chipset. You end up with a whisper in the background :)
