I ran RC1 for several months in a VM before upgrading my system from XP pro
to Vista business.

Vista is as stable as XP pro was for me. Many things, though not all, seem
snappier on my system (p4 3.0 GHz - 2GB RAM). All of the peripherals that I
have work fine with Vista after having downloaded updated drivers if there
were any.

I am a software developer. I like that .Net 3.0 is already in Vista. Vista
also brings a lot of stuff to the development table via native APIs and the
like.

I like the direction that the security model is heading. It is not where it
needs to be yet, but it is a step in the right direction.

Granted, there are issues. Many times when I delete a large video file, if
I don't close the explorer window right after deleting it, the file will not
disappear until I reboot. I hope SP1 fixes this. I also realize that
others have problems running Vista. But I think that many times, the issues
are with the 3rd parties. Drivers/hardware/software has not been updated to
work with Vista. I realize it may be painful and costly for these 3rd party
vendors to upgrade.

I don't have much experience with Vista, other then running a vista
VM for a while, and reading a lot about it.
I'm curious....why? What is you like about it over XP PRO?
