Two questions: (I hate asking questions to answer one...)
Are you using the latest version and build of FF?
(Mine claims "itself" that 3.0.1 is the newest released version.)
Did you try to disable your plug-ins/extensions?
I run all sorts of tabs "all the time" in the same window,
and most are opened from inside that same window to
begin with...
When I have trouble (not often) with FF, the BEST thing is
it is easy to fix by a simple un+re-install... (Unlike IE...)
Just a few ideas to toss out there... <grin>
