I'm not sure you wanted to do "anything" right now, so
most of your questions can be answered with a simple answer.
Strip it down to the bare FF and then, if that doesn't help,
un+re-install. I have so little trouble with FF I don't know for sure
If I ever fixed it (on my machine.)
(I get an intermittent update error - but I think that has more to
do with my ISP -- crappy (Verizon) DSL...)
FIOS is in "my neighborhood" (now) so there is NO chance DSL
will get better now... (I'm pretty close to CO...)
