Did Vista failed on install of an update? You may need to do a repair install or unscrew the Windows Installer.
FYI, if you're smart, you will get all of the necessary M$ 'afterthought' tools to repair Windows Installer BEFORE you need them - the repair tools NEED a working Windows Installer to install them! My HTPC recently started shutting down when I tell it to reboot. It's running Vista. The reboot command goes in, everything closes nice and cleanly and then it simply shuts off instead of rebooting. Pressing the power button brings it right back up. It's annoying because if I'm away from home and it does an auto reboot after a windows update or I need to remotely reboot it, the server is down until I can get back home. Any thoughts?
