Does Vista put stuff in the BIOS/CMOS?  That's kinda scary if it does.

No, Vista didn't fail but the machine is acting weirdly.  Every morning I
wake up to find it BSOD'd sometime between midnight and 6AM.  But the
shutdown instead of reboot thing started before that.

I'm in the process of reinstalling Vista now on a new HD to see if I can
figure out what was causing the BSOD's and the reboot/shutdown thing is
really annoying.
