The wall mount plates I bought took CAT5e wire as punch-down, no issues.
Conduit STRONGLY recommended between cave & house. Make sure to follow correct
procedures/codes about depth of the run and the height at each termination end. LV
only, no power lines in same conduit!
Even if there is direct burial cable, go the conduit route it gives more
options later.

pretty much figured this is the way to go. Tried to use existing phone conduit
wit h no luck. Put a low voltage box on the endo of the cave near the house and
ran the cat5e. Figure sealtight conduit and maybe snap in or just direct bury
the cat5e and see what happens. Figure a dual jack inside and a short patch
(maybe)
hard work trying to *figure* out what ya want b4 the walls go up. :-D
Thanks to all, the strength IS in the pack. ( as GlassWolf would say)

for just 20 feet why not just put it in buried 1.5 inch electrical PVC. A
bigger pipe will make it easy to pull the sweeps ( NOT elbows) and you can
easily add something else later if you wish, like coaxial. You might consider
buying some of that all in one cable..... = phone, CAT5e, coaxial, fiber optic.
Very expensive but it is just 20 feet....and if you measured 20 feet buy 40
feet.
