Your first guess is correct--SPI is Sparkle/FSP (FSP group was formed in the
mid 90's with a merger of Fortron Source and Sparkle). They used to make top
notch supplies, but I've seen a number of failures recently that makes me
wonder if they've lost something. SeaSonic now stands alone in my book as
the top tier _mainstream_ PSU manufacturer.
