Greg,
Thanks for this share and background. Oddly enough, I do still have an
"old" ATX psu that is indeed from Fortron Source! It came out of my
older Brother's Micron PPro-200 (256) monster steel tower.
I have used it twice for temp duty (waiting for replacement). But I know
this Forton Source psu is soon to scrap also. The last time I pressed
it into temp service, it would NOT supply adequate power until I
disabled most of the extra I/O of the PC.
Looks like some SeaSonic psus in my future........... :)
Best,
Duncan

Your first guess is correct--SPI is Sparkle/FSP (FSP group was formed in the
mid 90's with a merger of Fortron Source and Sparkle). They used to make top
notch supplies, but I've seen a number of failures recently that makes me
wonder if they've lost something. SeaSonic now stands alone in my book as
the top tier _mainstream_ PSU manufacturer.

Personally, I think this PCP&C PSU came from Sparkle or SeaSonic. I am
not familiar with the PSU's m/b identifiers, however. I have no plans
to un-solder any more elements to figure this minor mystery out.
This valiant, personal warrior deserves a proper end. I have zero
personal complaints. This bunch of wire and components did its' job to
the bitter end! No tears here....... :)
Just a share...... :)
Best,
Duncan
