I notice that amazon.com sells lens cleaners not only for CDs/DVDs, but
also for Blu-rays, too.
Anyhow, if the issue is to remove dust/dirt from the lens, then most of
these have the brushes in the right place, they all should pretty much
do the trick.

That is the point of my question. Yes, I use optical drives (CD, DVD). I
understand them. They have optics inside that can (should) be cleaned. The
laser lens, for instance.
I clean my optical drives every 6 months (if the stupid "old" CD works!)
Turns out that my present "cleaner CD" plays fine in W2K. It plays oddly in XP.
Bummer. I know you play Vista/Win7. Fine. I do not.
Still wish to "clean" my optical drives.

I am using a very old CompUSA CD. I so know OLD!
LOL! Yes, even XP is having trouble with this CD.
It plays fine on Win2000Server!
