Perhaps you are thinking about old PATA/ATA drives? I do wonder about the smaller SATA connectors. JMO.

I looked at those, but the problem is the that the power and data connectors are fixed, and I've had two cases where the power connector on the hard drive had been knocked out of kilter (in one case, the hard drive had been in a car accident - it wasn't driving) and with a fixed connector, it won't fit into the drive.
