Testament does NOT mean covenant. and NEVER has.
While a collection of books that Christians call "New Testament" CAN be viewed as a will of some god, it is NOT (and does NOT even claim to be) similar to the collection of Hebrew books venerated by Jews as the writing describing a number of Covenants, i.e. Pacts, including the one between G-d of Israel and the Jewish nation something that Christian communities are NOT. Old Testament is a Christian title for the translations of certain ancient Jewish books that venerated by Christians, not by Jews. The content of "Old Testament" differs from one Christian church to another as is the sequence of the included books. The "old covenant" (testament means covenant) is defunct, according to the early Church, and has been replaced by a new one, "in Christ." So Jews are generally grateful to see the terms "old" and "new" done away with. Especially "old." It has very negative connotations. Jewish Bible, or Hebrew Bible is generally preferred, and something like "Christian Scriptures" for the NT. It says that in the cases of individual books, like Genesis, we no longer are supposed to label it as Old Testament, just Genesis, Bible. I was wondering how others feel about this. I am wondering if this is a step back to other people, besides me when it comes to issues of a Christian bias. I want it to be labeled as the Old Testament and given a distinction that shows that it is a Jewish version and not a Christian version that has been published along with a New Testament related series that would be part of a Christian series. Has there been any discussion or complaints about this that I haven't seen yet or are Jews in agreement that this change is alright?
