I can only echo what others have already said. Leah was a beautiful person in
every sense of that word; beauty of spirit, beauty of mind, beauty of caring.
I will miss her even though I haven’t seen her is quite a few years, my
thoughts of her are very clear. It was always a pleasure and a meaningful
experience to interact with her.

May her memory be for a blessing in all the circles she traveled.

Leah was a lovely human being.

We spoke every year at conferences and she was always kind.

She served as a member of the Board and Council and lent her voice quietly, as
she did everything, but with authority.

Baruch dayan ha-meet.

This is very sad news. Barukh Dayam ha-Emet.

Leah gave me first library job. At the end of my first year at YU I interviewed
for a student position managing the front desk at the Gottseman library. Leah
offered me the job that summer and I started at the start of my second year. I
held this position for 6 years.

I always looked forward to seeing Leah at AJL. We reconnected and shared
memories. A wonderful person and a great leader. I will miss her very much. May
Leah's memory be for a blessing.

Dear colleagues,

I'm very sad to report that Leah Adler, Head Librarian of Hebraica-Judaica at
Yeshiva University, died this weekend after an illness that she managed quietly
and successfully until recently. The funeral will be in Israel, and the flight
to Israel is today. As plans for a memorial at the Gottesman Library of
Hebraica-Judaica materialize, we'll send out a notice.

Throughout her illness, rather than talk about herself and her physical
discomfort, Leah expressed concern for others--about the effect of her absence
on their work loads. In the workplace, Leah was always disarmingly candid and
honest; she never hesitated to bring up important issues, regardless of how
challenging those issues were.

After decades of service, Leah seems inseparable from the history of Yeshiva
University Libraries. We all share in mourning her loss. Let us all support
one another as we grieve.
