Dear Paul and all:
I am so sorry to hear this very sad news.
We lost a wonderful colleague who was always there for advice with a quiet
smile and a twinkle in her eyes. I remember my chats and meetings with her over
many years very fondly, I will miss her.
My sincere condolences to her family and friends, to her YU family, to all her
colleagues in the library world and beyond.
Baruch dayan ha-emet.

Subject: [ha-Safran] Leah Adler

Dear colleagues,

I'm very sad to report that Leah Adler, Head Librarian of Hebraica-Judaica at
Yeshiva University, died this weekend after an illness that she managed quietly
and successfully until recently. The funeral will be in Israel, and the flight
to Israel is today. As plans for a memorial at the Gottesman Library of
Hebraica-Judaica materialize, we'll send out a notice.

Throughout her illness, rather than talk about herself and her physical
discomfort, Leah expressed concern for others--about the effect of her absence
on their work loads. In the workplace, Leah was always disarmingly candid and
honest; she never hesitated to bring up important issues, regardless of how
challenging those issues were.

After decades of service, Leah seems inseparable from the history of Yeshiva
University Libraries. We all share in mourning her loss. Let us all support
one another as we grieve.
