Folks, and esp. the Std Haskell committee,
This is to remind you about the state of play for Standard Haskell.
* There is a complete summary of the changes to Haskell that I propose
to make, including the Prelude and Libraries, at
http://www.dcs.gla.ac.uk/~simonpj/std-haskell.html
* I will hold a meeting at ICFP, on Monday evening (28 Sept), with
the aim of finalising the design. I am not expecting any new issues
to arise there -- rather it's a place where we can thrash out any
remaining areas of disagreement. I'm hoping that it will be the
end of the process, not the start of a new debate!
* After that I'll make all the changes to the Report and publish
a draft for scrutiny.
* Incidentally, I'm leaning towards 'Haskell 98' as the name.
There has been very little feedback so far, even about the 'new'
proposals. I hope that represents agreement rather than exhaustion.
Last chance!
Simon
