Compared with BlockInfoContiguous, BlockInfoStriped just needs an additional 
indices array to index into triplets.

You seem agree that Design #1 indeed imposes a limit to BlockInfoContiguous and 
BlockInfoStriped that their implementations must be similar.  BlockInfoStriped 
cannot be changed to a completely different implementation?
