I agree and firmly believe that laptops our out of the discussion here as they exactly fall into the "other mobile devices" category for which "chargers" are allowed. There is supposed to be a wifi network, which is kind of useless without a laptop. The problem could be with things such as the Sun box or if I wanted to take the Itanium server, our traditional camp companion, with me. As I said, I would refrain from bringing these along this time. > So why not just directly ask the landlords if they mind us having the > computers there? This sounds too submissive. As long as the thing has a real charger, can operate without it on batteries and is _mobile_, I don't think its anyone's business but ours. > It's better to get an explicit permission in advance than being expelled > because of the house rules violation later. The problem with asking a permission is that in some cases, people will just misunderstand the meaning of the word "camp" in this context and fall back to saying "no" because from their point of view it is the safe option. I believe that for the common sense things, it is better not to ask and simply act in a good will.
