Our hexayurt is all taped up and almost ready to ship. We beveled most of the edges. The walls are taped into an accordion so it folds flat. The roof is taped into two pieces - a left and right side if you will - so that the whole package folds down into a 4' x 8' x 1' stack.
Folding stuff shown in a picture: http://keroes.com/hexayurt/sketch.png Next up are the tape anchors. I see that the tape anchors are supposed to run up the middle of both the roof-corner seams as well as the mid-panel seams. If we put the tape anchors square over those seams, the roof panels won't fold up anymore. Oops. Hmm, what to do, what to do? What do you think of us offsetting each tape anchor 3" to the right, all the way around? That would mean each tape anchor would right just to the right of every seam instead of over it. That idea is shown on http://keroes.com/hexayurt/sketch.png under the heading "Tape & Anchors". Alternatively, we could split the mid-panel tape anchor into two 3" ones, but I'm not really sure how to handle the corner anchors. Seems a little fiddly to me but *shrug* it's an idea. So, all that said, do you think the offset anchors will hold steady against the playa winds? Any related details we missed? Thanks, Joshua, who wants his HY to be anchored down and stay down. In one piece. Booyah. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "hexayurt" group.
