Everything gets hot on the playa. The Hexayurt is actually pretty
reasonable compared to many other structures. The silvery outside
helps reflect away much of the light that would heat things up. They
can get stuffy. This is easily remedied. You can cut a hole in a side
and put an A/C filter over and mount an attic vent in the roof. This
will give you a good amount of air flow and not too much dust.

Thse will actually keep you cooler into the late morning than a tent
and shade structure can. On really breezy days, a tent may win
temperature-wise, but your stuff will be coated in dust.

Becareful with window placement. A misplaced window can turn a
hexayurt into a solar oven.

The last year I was on playa was 2008. I slept just about all day
sunday, including through the dust storm around temple burn. The
hexayurt barely budged during the storm and it was a temperature
comfortable for me to sleep in all day. I've never been able to sleep
past 9 - 9:30am in tents.

Cheers,
Spiral
