If you decide to use a swamp cooler, you must have good ventilation or it
will just get hot and humid. It will be very uncomfortable, unless you enjoy
a little Louisiana on the playa.

I tried a 1x2' filtered intake with a relatively weak 6" solar fan. The
results were not good. I shut off the swamp cooler (home made) for the rest
of the week. This year I plan to use an attic vent I have already aquired.
This should provide enough air flow to allow the swamp cooler to do its
thing.

You can cut into the cost of this a lot with some DYI stuff.

I have used a round trash can, line it with the Swamp Cooler meterial from
Home depot, cut some holes in it about 1 foot up and all along the sides.

You buy a solar powered fountain pump, it sprays water all over the swamp
cooler material. It runs when the sun is on it, so perfect.

There is a high power solar fan you mount on top of the trash can lid and
use some dryer vent or 8 inch flexible duct to vent it into your place.

When the sun come up, it runs. When the sun goes down, it turns off. I put
a "filler spout" in the side fo the can so i didnt have to take the lid off
to fill it up.

I'm including the Harbor Tool parts i used, you could get by with a smaller
/ less expsnive fan. They are avail from Coleman tents, etc. no battereis
to buy, not expensive solar panels either.

There is an instrucatabe of someone who bilt one as well, not the same as
mine but pretty close:

My materials:

Simlar set up as the above instructable, however the small pump and fan are
solar.

Small Solar Fan

6 inch fan - 225 CFM which is pretty good for a tent and easy to put in a
dryer vent exhaust tube.
