It's actually a possibility I considered.  It won't pack flat (you'll
be missing a 4'x4' square, you could just include the extra piece).
Space around the edges won't be very usable due to the wall angle.
Think about how far into the space a tub (ALC) or something would
protrude, due to the wall angle (or in my case, a footlocker).  But if
you don't mind those things, go for it.

I decided on this:

H8 yurt, same pieces as an H12 hexayurt, but two fewer sides.

Another possibility I considered was four 8' wide by 4' tall walls, and a
flat roof.  I think I'd be happy with the space, but I think supporting
the roof could be problematic.  (I saw an article about a guy who lived
in a hobbit hole 8' in diameter and 4' high, which looked fine.)
