Why not at the peak?  I feel like cutting off the tip so there's a 1"
square hole would be great for venting heat.  Then I could make something
to go over it that could be opened and closed as needed.  Although I think
that may not happen this year, Boston truck load is Sunday.

(I expect the peak of this thing, as is, to actually keep out rain well.)

Shutting on its own seems ideal to me, even with its disadvantages.
(And even though the first time I went in it, I had something in my back
pocket which resulted in another foil tape patch.)
