Hey there, I tried posting this a little earlier but it doesn't seem to have worked, so apologize for the double post if that happens.
So this will be my first time in a hexayurt. Some friends are taking a year off and lent me their yurt, and another has space in his trailer for transport, and my 6" biderectional filament tape (4 rolls) is on the way along with some foil tape (even though my friends never bother with the foil tape.) So I think the big issues are taken care of. Having watched the videos I think I get the basic idea (actually the gap info still confuses me a little) but making the tape loops looks very complicated and easy to go through a ton of tape. So I was going to go with the rope halo instead (with the guy wires tied to rebar.) I saw here that some people use paracord, some use ratchet straps, and I was just wondering what would be recommended for someone who doesn't know their knots at all. Also, looking for U shaped rebar but having trouble finding it (someone here helpfully posted about playa staples, but the company that makes them is not taking new orders for this year at this point.) Specifically for a hexayurt with 4' x 8' panels what rope (length and thickness) do people recommend for the halo and then for the guy lines as well (which if I don't find U shaped rebar will be attached to regular 2' rebar stakes, I think.) I tried finding the answer here but had no luck. Thanks! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "hexayurt" group.
