I just keep all my HG mail in a separate folder.  It was easy to set up 
a filter to automatically send it there and I look at it when I have the 
time.  I sort through it and keep the things I think might be useful 
someday, like technical issues and playing techniques and delete the 
rest.  It is easily searchable from my e-mail program (mozilla 
thunderbird) and anyone who has installed google desktop would be able 
to do the same thing.  I don't know about outlook, but I am assuming it 
has some facility for searching. 

Personally I am not fond of BBS style communication.  I find the threads 
confusing and difficult to follow, especially if you have to look at a 
lot of them to try and find something.  I like this list alot, and while 
I do not often contribute, I do feel a part of the "community" and find 
most of the topics discussed interesting at least on some level.
