What's this "again" business, More like ..."Still"

I see the "socket" I just can't make a square out of it.

I seem to remember this as 20-24 inches across. But then I forgot about
the knife, so.. i'd ask Emily, but as mentioned, she's not speaking to
me (again/still). I did notice on my researches that's it's supposed to
belong to The Getty in Malibu, CA, so maybe one of our friends or
colleagues, could stop in while they are in the neighborhood?

Anyway as I spent a good deal of today looking at the ground with a
weed-eater, I didn't get over to the Kimball (hoping to get a look at
some big photos or some kind of archive) so I pretended I was going to
print that picture off the web until I got chance to Adobe Preview and
went at it with the zoom tool. I am confuseder than ever, except the
fiddler is holding bow, by the frog. Given that the bow is way over
there and the only fiddle in sight is nowhere near it...I'm pretty sure
he's not playing but might be poking somebody or lifting a purse...
The old woman on yr left: at first she appears to have her hands
clasped but on closer inspection appears to be holding a tiny Guiness.
Even closer inspection seems to reveal a wedge of bacon in it. which
make the same sense as having a wedge of lime in Mexican or Belgian
beer....maybe...I guess. If it was a wedge of potato it might also be
Belgian beer. That still doesn't explain the strings of bologna
wrappers lying over her hand....
But I digress
I also looked at the other de la Tour paintings of the Hurdy Gurdy
Player and AFAICT the crank itself is kinda C-shaped, but not
completely. and then there's this one:

http://jacques.grandchamp.free.fr/Musicora/pages/lmr02.htm

which you'd think would have all of the answers, but as you will
observe the salient shot (third down) has a black drape over the
interesting bits, which reminds me of "dirty" pictures from the 50's.
So much for gurdyporn.
