For linux users, same procedure (save FLV video) and then in a terminal:
ffmpeg: ffmpeg -i "video.flv" -s 320×240 -r 15.00 -b 450 -vcodec mpeg4 -acodec mp3 -ab 96 "video.avi" Mencoder: mencoder -ovc raw -ofps 15 -oac pcm -vf scale=220:2,expand=220:176,format=bgr16 "video.flv" -o "video.avi" Of course you need to have installed ffmpeg or mencoder. Another option for downloading: http://javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php Same idea, enter the URL of the clip, and save as when prompted. At this page you'll also find a Firefox extension that makes it even easier. There's also a link to a free download for an FLV player, the format YouTube videos are in. Or you can download VLC, a cross-platform multi format video player. It has managed to play everything I've tried it on, and I know it works with flv files. http://www.videolan.org -- Dennis Sherman Chicago, IL, USA ----- Original Message ---- From: Arle Lommel <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [email protected] Sent: Thursday, February 22, 2007 9:32:37 PM Subject: Re: [HG] Gilles and Patrick on YouTube You can go to http://www.youtubex.com/ and enter the URL of the video. It will then download it for you, but you will still need to convert it to a more readily usable form. The Youtubex page gives some suggestions of how to do it. I use isquint on the Macintosh to handle conversions and it seems to do well. I don't know about Windows. There are better ways to do this all automatically, but they cost money, and if you only want a video here and there, using Youtubex is a reasonable way to get the files. -Arle > > I am very new to list groups, Youtube, and the like.
