Seth: I made a long sanding board about 3" wide and 30" long. I attached a handle to the top, like a Stanley plane handle and glued sandpaper to the bottom. If you sand 'longways' you will follow the contour the braces shaping the edges so the top fits nicely to the curve. I use 120 grit from a 6" X 48" cloth sanding belt and it went surprisingly quickly. What is the standard method of making the sides of a hurdy gurdy one's building angled down so when the curved top is fastened down it will be flush with the sides at an angle.. I know if I just leave the top flat I can avoid this but it seems nicer with the curved top... Cheers, Seth
