Good, congratulations. > My only question is how do > you make the chanter string louder it seems as though > the drone strings are drowning out the chanter because > they are so loud... Seth well, the nerdy answer is that the drones are bigger than the chanters, so more mass is moving, which shold be louder, etc. I' m thinking you only have one tangent row, so a second chanter might not be an option. Lowering the bridge would make the chanter louder, because the string gets more pressure on the wheel. BUT you need to be extremely careful not to remove too much. Alternatively, shimming out the drones might HELP for now. Try a very small paper strip (1/4" x 1") (Aside to non-Americans: 3 X 26mm) --Start there & go smaller with experience. Pretty much, you want to place the shim on the bridge at right angle to the string. Actually, for this case you might go parallel with the string and tape the ends to the bridge, I rarely have to shim drones out, but there is the problem of losing the shim when you take the drones off the wheel. That's why a bit of tape might help. You might also try a clothes pin or a very small spring clamp on the drone bridge. This is supposed to mute it. If you are REAL energetic you might want to make something like a violin mute. These are all band-aids, temoporary solutions. The good news is that the Orca you've got ordered has built-in string adjusters. That's pretty exciting. Later, Roy
