Thanks I'll try that.. Weird thing is I've been playing it all week and it just
started today.. I get the same sound with the dog string and C drone string
on...

My hurdy does the same sometimes and in my case it is really the G bourdon
resonating as Theo suggests. By damping this string string I can prevent it.
For that purpose you may clamp something to that bourdon string or, if
availabe, use a capo just touching the string.

throws the tune off.. It goes from nice sounding and when you hit the open G
its like a loud buzz bass sound. I'm very new at this so it could be
anything.. I may have put too much rosing on the wheel.. If I put one chanter
on and leave everything else off when I crank the open note G buzzes like
using the dog string. It didn't do that when I got it but I've changed cotton
and added rosin since then... Could too much pressure on the wheel cause this..
The problem seems to go away if I put my hand on the bridge and push down with
a little pressure towards the soundboard.. I think what's happening is for
some reason I'm getting too much vibration on that note and I haven't figured
out how to stop it yet... I'll check back after I troubleshoot a little bit...

You are probably getting the drone to sound sympathetically. That can be OK.

I just noticed that when I play the G with just the open string length with
one chanter connected only I get a loud bass G like a bass string.. When I hit
the next note A or any other key it goes away and sounds good.. Its only
happening on the Open G.. Seth
