I was looking at the picture of the Varquain on his site, and some things
puzzle me.
There are 4 strings, but 6 tuning pegs.
The 'ears' are set up for 2 strings each, and there is a tirant tuning peg,
but no chien bridge that I can see. No chien either.
The bourdon bridges don't seem to be set up to take the 2nd string on
either side either.
Nice woodwork, but seems a bit unusual in design, at least to me.

Oh well.... I can I say and stay politically correct or at least not
look snobbish .
The whole thing does look unusual to say the least . All the
decoration is far from
traditionnal . Is it a sin to be original , no of course , still I like a
HG to look sort of
like a HG , or to be completely modern , those on this w-site look ....
well .... different .
Now the plans , who made them ? from wich instrument ? There is a
Varquain
drawing ( not really a plan ) copied and re-copied since few years , it
comes from
California . There is also a Lasnier plan around , both are from
instruments a bit smaller than
the traditionnal Pimpar/Pajot style .
For plans , I prefer the ones sold by Pascal Crangat , they are expensive
but all parts
are shown separately ans all copyright are paid to the creator.
