Colin I sounds great in the upper octave on a G/C if you have a low G chanter The upper octave on a low G chanter is most sweet and very well behaved (on my HGs) all the way to the top G I am just back from an event where I played a G/C 6 hours a day for 9 days I think I retuned to C twice All the playing was done standing up/walking around I never play sitting down except when practicing I always wear both straps (as does Gilles Chabenat) I have a proper set of leather waist/shoulder straps I don't put the shoulder strap under the tailpiece I you put the waist strap on over the shouder strap its not necessary The waist strap keeps the shouder strap tight against the HG body, well clear of the crank

I prefer the middle ground. Still, at least we all know where to find it now :-) Colin Hill ----- Original Message ----- From: "Graham Whyte" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, July 04, 2007 2:01 PM Subject: RE: [HG] tune in Captain Coragious movie > It fits perfectly on a D/G HG > On a G/C HG either > Transpose it to C or > Simply play it one octave higher > > Graham > > > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf > Of Colin Hill > Sent: 04 July 2007 12:55 > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [HG] tune in Captain Coragious movie > > > The tune is in the Penguin Book of Australian Folk Songs, if you can find a > copy (I have one somewhere but can't lay my hands on it at the moment). > It's often discussed on the Concertina.net forums. > It's under "Yea Ho little Fishy". > It is, however, included in the PDF file from > http://www.megalong.com/shaggy/gangang1.pdf > in the key of G.
