Ivan said it really quite well, all over Europe we used to call it FOLK music.
I cannot say exactly what I think as I would offend the listmaster, but it s so
sad when so many of us, me included, get so worked up over words. The english
language is spoken around the world and many individual words mean totally
different things to differing nations. If someone told me that I was playing
Celtic music I would consider that insulting and the person was being rude to
me. JON
p.s. I just found an old advert with a Very young Phil Lynott proclaiming
Thin Lizzy.... CELTIC ROCKERS

Hello,et
the last email about this interesant question...
I understand the opinions with the music idea of conecction between
diferent countries or towns, but the question on my point of view is
what criterion is used..
one email (sorry, i lost your name!!) talk about why other people doesn't
make
celtic music, and in this point i think Folk is better name for this music..
i don't want to turn over the subjetc, but there is an empty research, or
rather, there is
no evidence enough to say convincing what was the real way undertaken by the
celtic music...
thank you for the comment (sorry, i'm a disaster with the names!!)..., and by
the way,
we don't use chien...
