In my experience, the recent revival of interest in spinning has been a great benefit to us. Look for a local source of spinning supplies (often the same as a weaving/knitting store) and ask if they have cotton sliver - that's the name of the fiber prepared for spinning. Or go to a web site like Cotton Clouds

to educate yourself about the options. You need very little to try the fiber, less than an ounce, so finding a local store and making your purchases there (you buy by weight) is more economical than buying the minimums over the internet. Or find the local spinning guild and see what its members can do for you.
