I do not own an HG. I cannot even say that I play any instrument other than the Jaws Harp (7-11 or Doubles, inhale and exhale). But I do enjoy this list immensely that I have been lurking for a few years now. The thread about cotton and tampons has kept me enthralled, even through all of Turkey Day. My interest in the HG comes from many many years ago my having a record of heritage instruments applied to Vivaldi. I very much enjoyed the comments on the tangent of the string skipping off the wheel and creating a strange effect... and moreso to watch the YouTube video. I have been watching all the YouTube videos that I can catch of what have been recommended. That guy w/ the electronic HG his solo was truly amazing. About a year ago my binary music collection that was in several gigs died. It hurts like when your baby birds die. I have been slowly rebuilding my interest and my music collection. I express this because you all here on this list have been my guides. Whenever there is mention of an HG CD I go out and buy it. I have one goal in life which is to obtain a Tibetan Long Horn... I am caught by the idea of a music that is meant to communicate to the other side... as if all music does not do that? Regardless, I am in the business of restoration of heritage architecture and have the parts sitting here to build the $20 HG that is on the internet... I would not build it for the reason of fine music. I would build it from the inspiration to show up at a gathering of traditional building tradespersons and to show them an accessibility of the creation of music in their own lives. That said, and as my kind wife suspects, I would like to know where I can find, or learn to build, a sort of halfway nice and not too expensive HG for a modestly musically dolty person to obtain. To spend a grand on an HG when one is as backwards as me is difficult to explain.

Thnx,
