I have had more luck with the spinners, a lot of historical festivals will
have a good number of ladies out demonstrating spinning (also weaving) and
every time I have stopped by to watch and discuss sources they have given me
a sample. But the point is they know where to get it. Telling them what you
want it for never hurts but a tune wouldn't hurt. Most of the events around
here are western themed, so "Cotton-Eyed Joe" is a good choice <lol>. If I
lived in Reykjavik or Bangkok or some exotic place like say, New York, or
Chicago, I might choose a different tune. But they have always been a good
source of information and you may get some cotton out of it. Good luck.
