I see that you want this for your drone string, but what they demonstrate
here is octave melody strings. I can't figure out what string they're using
to get the low D melody string. It doesn't cause undesirable sounds in their
example, but maybe the bridge for the melody strings couldn't support this
heavy string. I was going to wait a while until I posted this question,
until I'd recieved my new hg, but since you're searching as well, I thought
I'd bring up the topic, even though we're wanting the string for different
uses. Perhaps the bridge has to be made special for this type of melody
string. Any thoughts?
