Thanks for those links.
That's one of the reasons I was trying to point out (gently) the equal temperament tuners are not the best thing for tuning a HG - especially the individual tangents as it will make the instrument sound, as you say "muddy", and I quote what you say in the second link:

"But that all is not a hurdy gurdy thing, that is a drone thing (its the same on a keyboard). A drone puts every single note into a relation towards it and equal temperament is made for the opposite - its the definite no-drone-tuning."
