Dear folks,
last afternoon I have had the rare chance to hear 2 lire organizzate made by Wolfgang Weichselbaumer played life on stage. When I obtained Matthias Loibner's mailing last Saturday and realized that he would play together with Thierry Nouat and the Ensemble Baroque de Limoges at the Cologne Philharmonic concert hall I treated myself a fist class ticket to sit in the 2nd seat row to enjoy this music composed by Ignaz Playel and Joseph Haydn. The music was overwhelming and to see these two organized hurdy-gurdies in action was marvellous and sometimes astounding to see gurdies played without a turn of the crank and listening to a very delicate organ sound instead of the stringed sound (and both together of course). Also, watching master player Matthias Loibner and Thierry Nouat playing "both handed" on the keys was wonderful and making me a bit jealous. The best of all: there is a new CD called "deLirium", performed by Christophe COIN, the Ensemble Baroque de Limoges, Quator Mosaiques and the before mentioned soloists playing Joseph HAYDN , Concerto, notturno per lire organizzate, Divertimenti per baryton. For friends of baroque hurdy-gurdy music this one is a "must". Wonderfully recorded and well balanced in sound this is a recording I recommend without any constraint. Unfortunately I do not have a source except the EBL homepage: http://www.ebl-laborie.com/ Best regards, Ulrich Joosten
