hi -

i noticed that EV_GetGunPosition returns your players eye-location and not
where the actual gun is. i'd like to manually transform that vector to a
location of my choosing. the version i have so far does successfully
displace the location i want, but it doesn't look too good when the player
looks up or down. are they any good algorithms out there or has anyone else
tried dealing with this?

for a little background info, i'm having a beam originate at this point, so
i'd like to make it look like it is coming from the end of the gun. i can't
use the way the gauss does it, which is to connect the beam to the client
ent instead of the GunPosition, for other reasons. worst case, i'll just
get it close and try to mask it with a muzzleflash.

as a side note, does anyone know why they use "idx | 0x1000" for the entity
in R_BeamEntPoint in the gauss EV code? (idx is the shooting client's
index, but i don't see why you'd Bit-Or that with 8).

thanks,

barret
