I guess not. I dont see how it wouldnt work. But I do work with the MP SDK rather then the SP. I dont know how it would be different.

I did that in HL2_Player.cpp in the precache and in the spawn function (where hl2 sets the hands up) and nothing changes. I've tried the barney model and a citizen model. Neither works. It just crashes. Plus just changing the precache and the setmodel in the hl2_player.cpp seems not to change a thing. I'm going to try what you said one more time but I've been screwing with this for awhile. I am doing this in the single player source and not the multiplayer source. Ok I double checked and no change took place.. not even an error msg....
But thanks a ton for the reply and maybe you have another idea?

To change it, use setmodel("player/newmodelname.mdl");
But you will also need to precache it. Do that in the ::Precache() function like this:
PrecacheModel( "models/newmodelname.mdl" );
There ya go. New model

If you go into AI_InitUtils.cpp and remove the setmodel() in the ::Spawn function and then run the game and type 3rd person, then load the same map you just laded a big grey model appears.. seems strange, its flatshaded and no animations besides an idle exist. Still am lost as how to set the basic player model to another one.. but hey this was cool so I thought I'd share.
