The T2 map I was working on went from a VRAD compile time of 22 minutes
down to just over 8, and that's also after switching from all dynamic to
static props.

tony's supposition is right - the version of the lightmapped generic
shader in the sdk won't work with this. it should show up on models, as
the screenshots indicate,
if you have the helper objects for lights turned on, pick the
non-raytraced mode, and if your graphics card is fancy enough.

Also, I'd be curious about any feedback on the speed of the new vrad.

There is a broken shader FYI. From what I've been told it'll be fixed
soon.
(it doesn't work properly for anyone)

I've been getting mixed results with the lighting preview on my

7900GS,

and
the ray tracing mode doesn't even work at all. Hoping this gets fixed
soon.

Hi mike, just wondering, does the new lighting preview mode come

with

the update today? Also does the new sdk / engine update address the
lighting bug concerning light bouncing incorrectly (read: not at

off of displacement surfaces?

cheers
