Same here. I am now running FireDaemon to restart the server. It crashed
the other night and went through some 8 iterations of logfiles.

PC> 2. I lose HALF my players on EVERY SINGLE map change. These players
have

I do not believe that I am seeing this at quite this level. There is an
AdminMod issue if you have Nick management enabled, which will cause this --
could that be your culprit?

PC> About my configuration:
PC> -- I'm running on Windows 2000 Server
PC> -- The server runs 24 players.
PC> -- 4107 ran PERFECTLY for months and months without any problems
PC> -- I'm running 4108b2 right now, but the problems exist in 4108 too.
PC> -- I'm running hlstats on the same machine as the TFC server, which
PC> collects stats from this and another server of mine.
PC> -- My machine has plenty of CPU and memory (over 100MB free
physical
PC> memory, CPU runs at about 30% with a full server)
PC> -- I have plenty of spare bandwith (1.1MB SDSL)
PC> -- sv_minrate is 3000 and sv_maxrate is 5000
PC> -- I run the latest admin mod with some custom scripts (this is not
the
PC> culprit, see below)

I am in almost exactly the same boat -->

AMD Athlon TBird 850
512M RAM
Win2K Server Edition
HLDS 4.1.0.8b
2 Installations of HLDS (separate IPs) w/20 players each
Ample spare resources
2.5M/1.0M ADSL
SV_Min=3000 and SV_Max=7000
Latest AdminMod
HLStats on same machine collecting from my servers and one other

PC> --Bad install: ruled out. I reinstalled a virgin copy of 4108 FROM
SCRATCH
PC> and still have the same problems.
PC> --Firewall: ruled out. I have a Sonicwall Soho2 Firewall. I took it
PC> COMPLETELY out of my network for several hours and TFC was still having
PC> problems
PC> --Admin mod: ruled out. I normally run the admin mod (latest version
PC> 2.50.07 with 1.10.0.0 metamod.dll) I encountered the bugs *without*
admin
PC> mod installed, although I'm running the server now with admin mod.

I have tried it both with and without AdminMod, single server and multiple
server, fresh installs, etc.. I tried all of the same steps you have above
and I have mine outside of the Sonicwall units I operate. (I told you we
were running almost the same setup! <Chuckle>)

All testing aside --> this is CLEARLY an issue with the 4.1.0.8x release
series. 4.1.0.8b cleared up one type of crash but not the other.

D> If it offers any consolation (which I know it won't) you are not
D> alone - I have been running our TFC server since the very
D> beginning of HLDS/TFC came out and we are experiencing problems
D> too.

FWIW guys, I think you'll find a lot of this is going around. I have been
sending logs to Valve for the last couple of weeks in the hopes it will
assist them in tracking down where the issues are. I finally resorted to
loading up FireDaemon to keep the servers running without my intervention at
least. Since all of the instability, my 3 servers went from constantly busy
to zero and have just now started to hit back up to busy during peak (I am
only running two now). We host 4 clans -- one is breaking up, another is
struggling, and the other two are just getting by.

D> Between the cheats, the unstability and other anomalous behavior,
D> we also have lost a majority of our guests. I can only hope
D> Valve is working on some new code. It might be helpful to them
D> if they released their server software to a SELECT group of
D> beta-testers who run a DS so initial reports can assist them in
D> fixing erroneous problems before they plague the entire TFC
D> community. This would entail admins running all different
D> platforms and verious setups - to cover a wider scope. Ex. -
D> some running AM, some not. Some on Win95/98 - others W2K. Etc. -
D> you get the idea.

Even more so, I hope they will actually add those of us who are seeing these
issues to their test bed. It is all fine and well that they have the top
clan(s) / server(s), but if those groups are not seeing the issues then the
test bed is invalid. To be perfectly honest, I wish Valve would just do a
reversal and roll back to the 4.1.0.7 code to try and get this thing
properly out the door and save the playerbase.

Noc.
