First of all people who are running servers on Win95 and Win98 shouldnt be allowed to play HL. Those operating systems are piss poor. I will try running a dedicated Half Life Server on my Windows XP Pro computer, and see if it is any betterthan Win2K. I am finding a lot of good stuff about Windows XP Pro. First thing is I do not think there is that Memory Leak problem as with Win2K. How did I find this out? I ran Seti@Home on my Win2K box and it ate all my memory in 3 days and I have 1Gig of RAM. I woke up and logged in and I say an error You have insuffient memory please close some programs or reboot the computer. I have had Seti@Home up ands runing in XP Pro without any memory leak issues. My workstation is as listed:
AMD 1.2Gig 266FSB Athlon ABIT KT7A-RAID 2x256MB Stick of PC133 Kingston ValueRAM 1x512MB Stick of PC133 Kingston ValueRAM SBLive Plat 5.1 GeForce3 64MB CD-RW Plextor 24/10/40A CD-ROM Mitsumi 48X 2 IBM 60GXP Hard Drives ATA100 7200 RPM 40Gigs each 1 Western Digital 40BB ATA100 7200 RPM 40Gigs HighPoint Tech HPT370 RAID Controller 420Watt Powersupply All Drives in NTFS Format I will have to load up HLDS 4108 AdminMod with MetaMod and run it and if I run it without a problem. It could be Win2K's Memory Manegement.
