Restarted it, no problem since... yet. The error was 35. Unable to validate Steam Ticket can't connect with Auth. Server. I will go throug the logs tonight to find the exact wording. I have another problem though. When I type writeid STEAM_X:X:XXXXXXXX in console on the server, it will create a banned.cfg but will not put the id in it and the person still can connect to my server. How I am supposed to ban people if this isn't working correctly? I have metamod 1.17.1.0 and statsme2.8.3.27 installed. Any ideas? In this case, the player joins the server with pending steam id, then less then a minute later they are dropped with a message about the server not being able to contact the auth server. The phrase "Invalid Steam UserID Ticket" never appears. Alfred explained it as the connection between the server and the auth server stalling or being interrupted, though as often as this seems to happen I suspect the server or the auth server routines themselves may have issues, or maybe the auth server is just overloaded? Maybe they don't retry, or maybe their timeout is just too short? --__--__-- Message: 7 From: "thrillhaus" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: RE: [hlds] Server crash Date: Fri, 10 Dec 2004 13:36:23 -0700 Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Nvm. Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [ Converted text/html to text/plain ] Hello ! Since the beginning of BETA there is a bug which causes the Server FPS to drop by half after several hours. If you start the server you always have 256FPS -> about a day later its already 128... if you dont restart the server, it will further drop to 64 (thats when it gets unplayable). At this time we always have to restart the server to get around this. But its really bad to do so every day. I have explained it to quicksilver, the moderator of the steam forums, and he could confirm the problem. It seems to appear on Windows 2003 Servers, it doesnt matter if you are running in console mode or in vgui mode. Even with default settings, it still happens. Just wanted to know if this problem is still being worked on? Thanks in advance, LD P.S. The min/max players server crash still happens from time to time (at least very rarely), but even with standard config. Don't know whats causing ist, but several people reported this problem too in the forum. --__--__-- Message: 9 From: "OoksServer" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: [hlds] Auth Server Failure? Date: Fri, 10 Dec 2004 13:39:12 -0800 Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] This sounds like the exact same error I got, error 35. The player gets dropped because your server thinks it can't contact the auth server. You won't find it in the log because this error does not get logged (at least OP4 servers don't log it). ----- Original Message ----- From: "Richard Welsh" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Friday, December 10, 2004 12:15 PM Subject: Re: [hlds] Auth Server Failure? > -- > [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] > After I sent out the question, I restarted my PC and was able to rejoin the > server but on the map change the server crashed. You need to run hldsupdatetool to get this update. This update tweaks several gameplay issues with Half-Life 2: Deathmatch and fixes a couple dedicated server problems. Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] I run a free for all hl2dm server, and a significant amount of players have been complaining about spawn campers. Are there any plans in the future to include a server variable to allow admins to set player spawn invulnerability? Something that the admin could tweak time-wise would be ideal (in seconds or tenths of seconds). Players having even just one second of spawn invulnerability would go a *long* way in preventing spawn campers from ruining a decent game. - K2 http://www.hardfought.org -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of ironchef Sent: Saturday, December 11, 2004 2:36 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [hlds] Half-Life 2: Deathmatch update released Alfred Reynolds wrote: > This update tweaks several gameplay issues with Half-Life 2: > Deathmatch and fixes a couple dedicated server problems.
