Come on, how can you not reproduce a server losing VAC? Run a few servers
for a while, ya know, the thing you guys code in there. We run lots of both
HLDS and SCRDS servers and all of them will lose VAC from time to time. Both
public servers, private servers and servers we run just for the world to
play on. All servers use a unique port as well as steam port. It's
intermittent and always has been. Running a little internal LAN server won't
show you the effects of anything really. You guys need to run publicly
accessible servers and you'll clearly see this issue yourselves. I've
personally seen it happen on RHE3, Debian (Stable), Win2kServer,
Win2k3Server and Win2k3Ent.X64 server. There is no rhyme or reason to it. It
obviously is lack of communication between the game servers and the VAC
servers. Whether that be from line saturation or just poor network
connectivity of the VAC servers is unclear but it DOES happen. Daily to most
of us here. I just cannot believe you put ANY solid effort into reproducing
our environment and fail to see one of those servers insecure. I just
checked our list and found two from looking about 2 hours ago. If you have
something I should look for in logs then by all means give us the phrase to
search for. But don't assume we'll accept "we can't reproduce it" and call
the case closed. I'll be HAPPY to help run this useless AC on our servers
out of lack of options since Valve is too nuts about coding to allow
somebody that gives a damn to do a better job of it.

Subject: RE: [hlds] Servers losing VAC, gettin beyond a joke...

I cannot reproduce this problem (nor am I sure exactly what the problem
is, log excerpts and minidumps would be useful). How do you know you are
"losing VAC"? How do you know that a restart doesn't fix the problem (do
you wait a little for login sequence to complete?) What are the
configurations of the machines with the problem? Do you have other
machines that do not exhibit the problem?
