I'm not seeing any differences on my HLDM server, I'm seeing the same uplink bandwidth utilization that I have had for a very long time now (IE: 9 players are max on a 320K uplink or avg 35.5K per player).
You might be seeing a secondary effect caused by many players having better computers and faster internet connections so that 25% might have been extra and now it's "normal" ... whatever that means. If you were not using a high-res timer before and now you are (assuming a win32 box) that also might account for a little extra margin. quick ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ook" To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, April 17, 2006 8:37 AM Subject: [hlds] HL1 Bandwidth requirements and recent updates
I've noticed for a while now that the amount of upload bandwidth on my server has been significantly reduced. I use DuMeter to watch bandwidth, and upload bandwidth is about 25% or so less then what it used to be. My server settings have not changed for a long long time. Was there some update recently that reduced bandwidth usage? Has anyone else noticed this? Example: I have 5 players in my server right now. Upload is about 110 kbps. It used to bounce around 150k with 5 players. I know this varies from map to map, but overall this has become very noticeable.
