There is a ResGen utility for HL1 maps available at thezproject.net To the best of my knowledge there is no such tool for Source maps.

I know that .res files need to be created for custom maps when using the sv_download or web redirect but do I need to create some kind of .res file to make the connected gamer download custom models as well ?
