Have you installed Server 08 yet?

I have a "print server" that runs Server 2003, and all this VM does is
connect to network printers, and share them in Active Directory. Task
Manager PF Usage reports 110 MB. Physical Memory (K) reports the
following: Total 392648 / Available: 238016 / System Cache: 180632

Now I'm sure that if I wasn't logged into view Task manager, I'd
probably see even better numbers.

My Server 2008 VM, with nothing installed (default MS installation) was
eating up about 440 MB in the pagefile ... I have it performing various
services now (logged in, acting as just a Terminal Server gateway, it
uses over 800MB of the pagefile).

I would venture to say, that using the default Server 200x
installations, Server 2003 does indeed have a (much) smaller memory
footprint.

FWIW.

What I meant was that they are already trimmed down. From my
experience, it
is more likely that you have too little on a server OS initially than
too
much. Also, like I said, I find it highly unlikely that Server 08 has a
higher footprint than Server 03.
