From a players perspective, the "exclusive" playing of classes that
have had packs released is bound to happen, as people wish to experiment
with the new weapons and gain the unlocks. As per all class updates in
the pass, there is a week or so of class-specific gameplay, which then
reverts back to the usual playing environment for that particular
server. What *doesn't* help VALVe this weekend is the fact they made it
a free-play AND discount weekend. The confusion I am seeing (and the
anger of some of the very-long-time players seeing a person new to the
game getting new unlocks) is not helping the community(ies) at all.

My point of view on this new "unlock" system is that it is not needed,
however it is a change of direction which maybe the
developers/publishers wanted to happen, for whatever reason. The fact
there is *so much* discussion, mostly negative, about this new system
says to me that it is the wrong time to be releasing it into worldwide
play. How do you "gauge" if a player is doing well? What is the
benchmark? What about those who play at a consistent skill level? Will
they be rewarded equally as someone who has a sudden burst of skill of
the same "level"?.

I would like to see the old "achievement == unlock" system return, and
then perhaps VALVe/whoever makes these decisions return the "random
unlock/trade" system when all class packs have been released. If you
think about it, this would make more sense, as everyone has an equal
chance of gaining the same unlocks, as opposed to being able to "grind"
for older packs yet having to "earn" the newer ones.

Hope this made sense. It's late :P

(P.S as for your comment re: the two classes not seeing an increase in
usage, obviously you haven't seen our servers here in Australia. Almost
exclusively spy/sniper teams and all servers are full.)
