This would be the way to go. If you can encourage people to go get the real
copy of the game because of what you offer you'll make a killing.

That being said, CSS is not that expensive anymore. I could possibly see
the point if it were a $50 game, but it's only $20 and goes on sale pretty
frequently. Once you build a server setup, if you see it go on sale, send
an email out to your clients so they can tell their friends to buy it while
it's cheap.
